Summer Isn't Over Yet! Keep Your Glow with These Essential Skincare Tips from the Skin Fairy đŸ§šđŸ»

As we find ourselves in the heat of summer, it's essential to adapt our skincare routines to the changing weather. Each season requires different skin care approaches, and summer is no exception. When the sun is blazing and temperatures are rising, we naturally want to wear less of everything—less work, less clothing, and less skin product layering. In this blog, we're chatting about how you can take care of your skin and sharing product recommendations for the warmer months.

1. Stay Hydrated Inside and Out

Hydration is crucial in the summer. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within. Additionally, use a lightweight, hydrating moisturizer to lock in moisture without feeling greasy.

2. SPF is Non-Negotiable

One of the most important steps in your summer skincare routine is applying sunscreen. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 and reapply every two hours, especially if you're spending time outdoors. Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays, preventing sunburn and long-term damage.

3. Switch to Lighter Products

In the summer, your skin tends to produce more oil, so it's a good idea to switch to lighter, non-comedogenic products. Gel-based cleansers and moisturizers are excellent choices to keep your skin feeling fresh and clean without clogging your pores.

4. Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and prevent clogged pores, keeping your skin smooth and glowing. However, it's important to be gentle and not overdo it. Generally, aim to exfoliate 1-2 times a week.

We did a two part Instagram reel on exfoliation (Part 1 - Part 2). For instance, oily skin might benefit from exfoliating 2-3 times a week, while sensitive or dry skin may only need it once a week. Tailoring your exfoliation routine to your skin type ensures you get the best results without causing irritation.

5. Incorporate Antioxidants

Antioxidants, such as vitamin C, can help protect your skin from environmental damage caused by free radicals. Incorporate antioxidant-rich serums into your routine to maintain a healthy complexion.

6. After-Sun Care (A.k.a. Oops, I Burned!)

We’re all human, and we've all been there—staying in the sun too long or forgetting to reapply sunscreen. If you do end up with a burn, here’s what to do: Soothe your skin with aloe vera or a calming moisturizer to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Taking care of your skin during the summer months doesn't have to be complicated. With these tips from the Skin Fairy, you can enjoy healthy, glowing skin all season long. Stay cool and radiant beauties!
